You know the drill: Matt Fisher has 8 hours and $100 to explore Dallas, Texas before the Rangers game. Follow Matt through his tour of the barbecue capital of the world! Welcome to the one and only Dallas, Texas.
The day starts on the ranch…Black Mustang Ranch at Lantana Resort, to be exact, just down the road from Dallas. Take a scenic trail ride like a real cowboy! Git' along, little doggies!
Next stop, a dive under the sea at the Dallas World Aquarium and Zoo, a privately owned facility, right in the West end of Dallas, where not only not only can you see fish and penguins, but also jaguars and monkeys, and a variety of birds.
The centerpiece of the Dallas World Aquarium is the 400,000-gallon shark tank, which features a shark tunnel, taking you down where you can swim with the fishes (not really, but it sure seems like it!).
Above sea level, you can even feed the animals! Who knew toucans liked blueberries?
After we’ve worked up an appetite giving the animals at the Dallas World Aquarium their lunch, move on to the world-famous Lockhart Smoke House in Lockhart, Texas, the barbecue capital of the world.
You’ve gotten some practice on the trail ride at Black Mustang Ranch, and now it’s time for that famous Texas past-time: bull-riding. Fortunately, there’s a horn-free option at The Trophy Room Bar & Lounge. Jump on up and hang on for a wild eight-second ride!
Everything’s bigger in Texas, including the gas stations. At Fuel City, you can gas up your car, get a fresh made taco see longhorn cattle, a camel, a zebra, a velociraptor, and a pool!
And you can’t miss a pre-game drink at Bobby V’s baseball bar. Named for legendary Ranger’s manager, Bobby Valentine, Bobby V’s has great memorabilia and a boxing ring you can dine in.
From Bobby V's, you can two-step (or drive) on over to Globe Life Park, just in time for first pitch!
